The Baptism of the Lord

In the readings for this Sunday, the Lord tells us clearly how he is the one who has chosen his people Israel to manifest his glory. Through Jesus we are given his grace and glory, and through his light he makes us joint heirs of salvation.

We hear John the Baptist announce his baptism with water and also declare that there is someone greater than him, who will baptize us with the Holy Spirit. John recognizes Jesus when he was walking and announces him, "this is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world" and this is how John bears witness and presents him to those who are there.

Reflecting on the testimony of John, his actions of taking the baptism with water and recognizing the one who would give us the baptism not only with water but also with the Holy Spirit to free us from all our sins, leads me to look at the testimony of the Apostle Saint Paul. He bears witness to us with his life; Jesus wants to lead each one of us to salvation. So let's reflect. How do we bear witness to Jesus with our daily lives and actions? How do we take Jesus who shares the love of the father and gives us the baptism with the Holy Spirit to each one of our brothers who do not know him like you and me?

If you have not been able to share with someone because you do not know how or feel that you do not have knowledge of how to explain, lack words or wisdom, remember that an action says more than a thousand words. That is what Jesus wants from you, that you follow him and that others know him through your actions.

Remember that Jesus came to save us all. So open your heart and say Yes to Jesus! May he be the one who reigns in your heart so that others who look at you know Him.
