Begin Anew in the New Year

Welcome to 2023. We are often motivated to make changes in our lives when a new calendar year begins. We focus on things such as exercise, healthy eating, and attitude adjustments; and these are all good things. Brothers and sisters, let’s encourage each other to begin anew and strengthen our relationship with the Lord because our spiritual well-being is far more important. Like the magi, let us be intentional about seeking Jesus and hearing His voice. Our Lord often speaks in the quiet of our hearts so it’s important to be silent when we seek Him.

On this 8th day of Christmas and the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, let us follow her example of surrender, trust and obedience. We are told that “Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.” What is God whispering about in our Hearts? What does he want us to hear and know? As we listen, let us be assured of His immense Love for us; let us be certain that His will for us is best and pray for the faith and trust to live His will in our lives. Once we are in His presence and growing in faith, we will experience the peace required to move into 2023 assured of who we are and that we were made to love and be loved.

Finally, like the shepherds, let us practice gratitude by “glorifying and praising God for all (we) have heard and seen”. Our God is so Good and his love is everlasting. Keeping you all in my prayers and praying for our parish in our school’s daily prayers.

St. Stanislaus, pray for us!
