Bishop Myron J. Cotta, D.D Monthly Reflection
by Bishop Myron J. Cotta, D.D | 08/27/2023 | From the ClergyDear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
During this second year of the Eucharistic Revival, one of the ways that can grow in our relationship with the Eucharistic Lord is found in experiencing Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Within this solemn eucharistic tradition, we pray together and proclaim what is known as the: Divine Praises. As we profess these blessed praises, our attention is profoundly drawn to truths in regard to Our Lady and her blessedness:
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her Glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin, and Mother.
As Mother of our Eucharistic Lord Jesus, it is fitting that Our Lady is mentioned in the Divine Praises offered to God during Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
During this month of August, we acknowledge her Glorious Assumption. As we celebrate, and uphold the truth that Mary has been assumed, body and soul, into Heaven, may she, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, intercede for us during these challenging and confusing times.
I invite you to join me in praying the following prayer during the month of August in honor of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament.
Let us pray:
Grant us, we beg of you, to know Him better, to love Him more, and to center our lives around the Eucharist, that is, to make our whole life a constant prayer of adoration, thanksgiving, reparation, and petition to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Amen.
Our Lady, assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
Our Lady, Mother of the Church, pray for us.
Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, pray for us.
