Make the Decision!
by Fr. Adrian Cisneros | 09/03/2023 | From the ClergyGreetings to you, St. Stanislaus!
The readings this weekend, especially the second reading from a letter of St. Paul to the Romans, are wonderful to help us better reflect on what we truly prioritize in our lives and the life of our family:
“I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Many of us can easily be conformed to this age and to this world without even recognizing it. Take the time and make the decision to be transformed by the renewal of your mind, as St. Paul writes. Make the decision! And in the gospel from Matthew, Jesus tells us: “…for whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” If we don’t make a decision (transformed by the renewal of your mind) to be in the world but not of the world, we are going to have a tough time truly following Jesus, and at the end of the day, we as Catholics should be striving for this, to be true disciples. Take the time this week to re-prioritize your life and your family, remembering to strive to put God first!
