Habiendo casi completado mi primer mes como administrador oficial de la parroquia, les agradezco su entusiasta bienvenida y me siento honrado por la cantidad de apoyo que me han ofrecido. El pasado 6 de julio celebré mi tercer aniversario como sacerdote, así que en muchos sentidos todavía estoy aprendiendo lo que significa ser sacerdote y cómo ser el mejor sacerdote que pueda; participando en el Eterno y Único Sacerdocio Verdadero de Jesucristo.

Dear St. Stanislaus Community,

Having nearly completed my first month as official administrator of the parish, I thank you for your enthusiastic welcome and am humbled by the overwhelming amount of support that has been offered to me. This past July 6th I celebrated my three year anniversary as a priest, so in many ways I am still learning what it means to be a priest and how to be the best priest I can; participating in the Eternal and One True Priesthood of Jesus Christ.

In today's Gospel, the disciples ask Jesus, "Lord, teach us to pray.” Every time I read or hear these words, the memory of when I was in my diaconate formation comes to mind.

As a permanent deacon, I want to share a time in class where the teacher explained the different ways and forms of praying. The instructor told us "the Jews have very beautiful and profound prayers, and perhaps the disciples of Jesus knew and practiced some of these prayers.

En el Evangelio de hoy los discípulos le dicen a Jesús “Señor, enséñanos a orar…”, cada que leo o escucho estas palabras de los discípulos pidiéndole a Jesús que los enseñe a orar llegan a mi mente el recuerdo de cuando estaba en mi formación como diácono permanente, en una clase en la que el profesor nos explicaba sobre las diferentes maneras y formas de orar nos decía “los judíos han tenido y tienen oraciones muy hermosas y profundas, y quizá los discípulos de Jesús se sabían y practicaban algunas de estas oraciones.

I am always amazed by the Gospels and how every time I read them I discover something new. It seems as if the Holy Spirit is slowly unveiling them and only allowing me to see the portions that are most appropriate for the moment in time that I am living.

The words in today’s Gospel truly hit home for me at this time of my life. It is like Jesus is saying “José, my dear José, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”

No dejo de asombrarme de los Evangelios y de cómo cada vez que los leo descubro algo nuevo. Pareciera que el Espíritu Santo va quitando lentamente el velo y va dejándome ver las partes que son más apropiadas de acuerdo con la situación que estoy viviendo en mi vida.

Las palabras del Evangelio de hoy realmente me impactaron en este momento de mi vida. Es como si Jesús me estuviera diciendo: "José, mi querido José, estás preocupado y distraído por muchas cosas; sólo hay necesidad de una cosa. María ha elegido la mejor parte, que no le será arrebatada".

The message of the Gospel: all of us can be the Good Samaritans given our capacity and ability. Putting into good use our Time, Talent and Wealth.

When we have strong yearning for something; our mind, our heart and our strength are involved; there is complete focus to achieve a particular goal! Jesus is calling us to involve this way in fulfilling the Golden rule: love of God and love of neighbor with all our mind, with all our heart and with all our strength.

Cuando tenemos un fuerte anhelo por algo; nuestra mente, nuestro corazón y nuestras fuerzas están involucradas; hay un enfoque completo para lograr un objetivo en particular.

Jesús nos está llamando a involucrarnos de esta manera en el cumplimiento de la regla de oro: amar a Dios y amar al prójimo con toda nuestra mente, con todo nuestro corazón y con todas nuestras fuerzas.

El pasado domingo 19 de junio del presente año, los cristianos católicos celebramos la solemnidad del Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo. El texto bíblico ha sido tomado de Lucas 9,11b-17. La escena es muy elocuente, clara y precisa. Nos presenta dos posturas muy significativas, la primera, la de los seguidores de Jesús (Apóstoles/discípulos) y la segunda la del mismo Señor. Veamos.

Last Sunday, June 19, Catholic Christians celebrated the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. The biblical text has been taken from Luke 9,11b-17. The scene is very eloquent, clear and precise. He presents us with two very significant postures, the first, that of the followers of Jesus (Apostles/ disciples) and the second that of the Lord himself. Let's see.
