With Advent We Celebrate a New Liturgical
by Rev. Adrian Cisneros | 11/24/2024 | From the ClergyThis is the end of the liturgical year long live Christ the King! And with Advent we celebrate a new liturgical year-Happy New Year!
Advent is the four-week period leading up to Christmas and should be a time of
Anticipation-anticipate the birth of Jesus and his second coming.
Reflection– reflect on the unexpected nature of Jesus’ birth and prepare for his return.
Preparation— prepare for the celebration of Christmas through prayer, reflection, and spiritual preparation.
And a bridge– If you think about it, Advent is a bridge connecting the past, present , and future. We also make this connection at every Mass which is celebrated– the Beautiful Eucharist.
These four practices should direct our heats and mind to Christ’s second coming at the end of time: “We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.” Our hearts should also be open to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
I encourage you to attend a daily Mass at least once a week during Advent.
I encourage you to spend some time with our Lord in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
I encourage you to approach the sacrament of reconciliation during Advent.
See the posting with all times and locations.
A blessed and fruitful Advent to all of you!
