Are you Entering the Kingdom of God?

In today's gospel, Sunday XXXII of Ordinary Time, Jesus tells us the story of 10 young people who went out to meet the husband and carried their lamps; 5 carried spared oil for their lamps and 5 of them did not.

The husband arrived and the doors were opened for the party, those who went to buy more oil for their lamps when they returned to meet the husband they found that the party had started, and the door was closed, they could not enter the banquet.

In this story Jesus tells us how it is possible to enter the Kingdom of God (Matthew 25:113). In the story of the 10 young women, the cautious and the careless are divided into two groups:

Which group are you in at these moments in your life, the cautious ones or the careless? We know that one day we have to leave this world and Jesus warns us:

“Be prepared, because you do not know the day or the hour.”

The questions we must also ask ourselves are:

Does our lamp have enough oil for when the Lord arrives?

How can I be filling my lamp (my life) with oil?

The Christian's oil to enter the Kingdom of God is to do works of mercy, charity, prayer, service to God, loving others as God loves us, forgiveness, constantly feeding our faith…
