Road to Emmaus

Are you rested from the Easter Triduum celebration? It was certainly an amazing celebration with many volunteers putting their time, talents, and treasure for the glory of God. For few days we experienced what the first Christian communities experienced when “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers.” (Acts 2:42).

We can take this experience and extend it for the rest of our life, it doesn’t have to end now. Community life is something we all benefit from; we celebrate and respect our differences as we strive to know each other. Jesus is the “way” and he gave us the roadmap with his commandment to love each other as he loves us. During Lent, we transformed our life by praying, fasting and doing the works of mercy. Let’s take the next few weeks of Easter to continue our transformation and pray that we too receive the Holy Spirit to grow in our community life. Take the time to get to know someone new in our community, even if there is a language barrier.
